Paper…

I’m very happy with my group and the creativity of their ideas. I was a bit worried about a group project especially with everyone having a different aesthetic but those worries were promptly squashed when they offered their ideas for a paper vessel to create. Out of the couple ideas generated we decided to move forward with the idea of creating a container for cassette tapes that resembles a cassette player. Here is our sketches:

David’s:

Michelle’s:

My own:

I do like the inclusion of the handle in both of David’s and Michelle’s designs, while I don’t believe it is needed to make the design clear I do find it a fun detail to add if time allows. I do like how David also was starting to think about the material being used for the project and bringing up the point that we need to ensure that it is able to hold up the cassettes without breaking. It would also seem like we all gave very similar ideas in regards to the general shape and construction of the vessel. I like how Michelle included the idea of having a lid/top so that we could close the vessel, I don’t believe we need a lid but if my group members like the idea of a closed container I’d be very willing to explore that idea with them. The inclusion of different fronts for the cases player was also a great addition I also notice that we both agree that the container should steady hollow and to add the dividers afterwards. I think one thing we need to be cautious about is the size so we don’t end up overwhelmed with the project. I would maybe like to add some decor of some sorts on the sides and back if time allows.

The Final Product
